Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line 5- Norther Route)

The Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line 5: Northern Route is a transformative project aimed at enhancing urban mobility in Bangladesh. As a key contributor to this landmark initiative, Triangle Engineers Ltd. provided specialized mechanical, plumbing, and fire-fighting system design services, focusing on vertical transportation solutions across the elevated metro stations from Hemayetpur to Vatara.

Our team was responsible for the design and implementation of high-capacity escalators and elevators, ensuring seamless passenger movement between different levels of the metro stations. The project scope included:

  • Design of 12 high-capacity escalators capable of handling 6,000 passengers per hour, with rise variations from 4.8m to 8.1m.
  • Installation of unidirectional elevators with 1,600kg load capacity, enhancing accessibility for all passengers.
  • Development of technical specifications in compliance with international safety and performance standards.
  • Integration of safety features, including drainage systems, emergency provisions, and fire-fighting measures, ensuring a safe and resilient transportation environment.
  • Coordination with civil contractors to align mechanical system installations with structural elements, optimizing space and operational efficiency.

By facilitating smooth passenger flow between plaza, retail, concourse, and platform levels, our work contributed to the functionality and efficiency of Bangladesh’s first comprehensive metro system. The Dhaka MRT Line 5 project is a testament to Triangle Engineers Ltd.’s expertise in vertical transportation engineering, playing a crucial role in improving urban connectivity and accessibility for millions in Dhaka.
